Sr. John, fmmIn 1969, Sr. John served as the Assistant to the superior in St. Joseph’s Covent and in St. Joseph’s Training Center.  For a short time, she served as the supervisor of boarders in St. Gabriel’s community in Hatton, Sri Lanka.

Sister was sent in mission to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Generalate in Rome, Italy   where she served as a secretary to a Consultation Commission from 1970 to 1973.

From 1973 to 1990 she served as the Provincial Secretary in Our Lady of Sri Lanka Provincialate, Colombo, Sri Lanka.  Throughout her religious life, Sr. John has shared her secretarial gifts.

Her next mission was to Bl. (now Saint) Hermine Community in Negombo where her ministry was community service and the writing of the Province History.

In 1997, she did the Sabbatical Program in Bethany Renewal Center in North Providence, RI.  She returned to St. Hermine Novitiate in Negombo where her ministry is community service.    Sisters in community describe Sr. John: “She is very, very humble, and an exemplary nun, that is why she is kept in a formation house where there are candidates.  So her presence itself is very enriching and a witness for our way of life.  She has mastered the language of our country (Sinhala) and she always communicates in Sinhala”.
