Sr. Anna Tarnauskas, fmm
Sr. Ann was sent in mission to Our Lady of Hope in Tamu, Liberia where she served as a clinic nurse from 1967 to 1970. Her next mission sending was to Queen of Peace Community in Liberia where once again she served as a clinic nurse and also as the superior of her community until 1973. Then in 1973 she was missioned to St. Joseph Hospital in Jirapa, Ghana serving as a nurse. In 1976, Sr. Ann was missioned to the United States, going to St. Joseph’s Community in Winslow , Arizona where she served as a clinic nurse in the Santa Fe Railroad Clinic. . She served the workers who were in accidents, and also helped the people who lived near the clinic as well some Hispanics brought in by the police. Sr. Ann studied at Emmanuel College in Boston, obtaining a B.S in Psychology and Counseling. After completing these studies, she was missioned to St. Michael’s, Arizona where she ministered as a nurse in the Indian Hospital at Fort Defiance, AZ. In Emmanuel Community in Columbus, Georgia, she worked as a nurse at a Franciscan hospital where she educated the patients about their conditions and surgical procedures they would have to undergo. From 1982 until 1997 her ministry was that of a Foster Care Nurse in McMahon Child Care Services situated in Manhattan, NY. From 1997 to 2000, she served as a nurse in the Early Child Care Center in Pawtucket, RI. She then was missioned to St. Francis Community serving in the Pastoral Care Department of St. Francis Hospital until 2004. Presently, Sr. Ann’s ministry is that of case manager at Fruit Hill Day Care Center for Elderly in N. Providence, RI
