Sr. Marie Cinotti, fmm
Sr. Marie Cinotti entered the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary in North Providence, RI September 15, 1959.
After pronouncing her first vows March 19, 1962, she began studies at St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Brighton. She pronounced her final vows Sept. 17, 1965. Her next mission was at Kennedy Memorial Hospital, Boston now known as Franciscan Hospital for Children working as an RN in Our Lady’s Unit. From 1967 to 1970 she was in charge of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Infirmary, N. Providence, RI.
Over the years, Sr. Marie has served as a nurse, religious education teacher, novice directress, local coordinator of communities, personnel director, vocation director and in pastoral care, prison ministry, parish ministry and soup kitchens.
Her present ministry is working at St. Jude’s parish in El Paso Texas. This parish is responsible for the chaplaincy at a local hospital where Marie serves as the chaplain. She is also part of the diocesan Vocation committee.
From 1970 to 1973 Sr. Marie served as the Personnel Directress in Cardinal Hayes Home for Children in Millbrook, NY and as the local coordinator of her FMM community. She also taught religion to the children at the home as well as at the local parish.
From 1973 to 1978, she was appointed as Novice Directress / Vocation Directress of the US Province. As novice directress, Marie had the opportunity to go to Switzerland, Rome and later Argentina for meetings of formation directresses. After completing her term as novice directress, she was sent in mission to Divine Providence Community in Manhattan to study some Spanish and take a refresher course in nursing with hopes of going to a South American or a Mexican mission. A ministry training and spirituality course brought Marie to Colorado for one year and then once again to Cardinal Hayes Home for Children in Millbrook as superior and religious education coordinator.
From 1984 to 1988, she served as the Local Coordinator of Holy Family Community, N. Providence, RI and as a Provincial Councilor. After a hurricane, Marie was sent to Nicaragua to help Franciscan Missionaries of Mary and the people they served.
From 1989 to 1996 she served as a Religious Outreach Worker at McMahon Services for Children in New York City. From 1996 to 2003 she was elected as the Local Coordinator of Holy Name Community and served as a Volunteer at St. Clare’s Hospital, NY in a Ministry to persons addicted to drugs, and taught a “family” religion class at Holy Name Parish. She served another term as a Provincial Councilor.
Appointed as Vocation Director, Marie lived in St. Bartholomew community, Waukegan, IL and later in O.L. of Millbrook Community Millbrook, NY. Lastly in 2006, she was sent in mission to Mary, Mother of Migrants Community in El Paso, TX. in 2006 where she is presently working in parish ministry and hospital chaplaincy.
