Sr. Carol Ann Kane, fmm

Sr. Carol Ann Kane entered the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary in North Providence, RI September 15, 1959. She pronounced her final vows at North Providence September 17, 1965.

After finishing her studies at Emmanuel College, she was sent in mission to Espiritu Santo School in Fall River as a teacher. Throughout the next years her ministries have included teaching, formation, pastoral care, retreats, spiritual direction, and leadership here is the USA and missions in Singapore and Kenya.

In 1969, Sr. Carol Ann Kane was sent in mission to Singapore and Malaysia where she taught in Hai Sing Girls High School and ran the Catholic Center in the city. She also served as a member of Franciscans International. Carol Ann returned to USA to get her MA in theology from Providence College and at the same time, once again, taught in Espiritu Santo School, Fall River. She served as the assistant novice directress and in other areas of religious formation.

For 6 years Carol Ann served as Local Coordinator in St Francis Community, Roslyn, NY. In 1986, she spent several months in Rome as part of a special Sorgente session for teachers throughout the Institute.

Next, sent in mission to the United States, she worked as a Pastoral Associate in Sacred Heart Parish in Roslindale, Ma and Pastoral Care in other parishes.

In 1992, Carol Ann was asked to go to Kenya and gladly said yes. She considers the years spent there, teaching, giving retreats and spiritual direction, being local coordinator and working in formation as wonderful! She also had a ministry as facilitator for many groups of sisters of different congregations which took her to several other countries.

Her present ministries in the United States as a member St. Francis Community are serving as the local treasurer, giving retreats with the Jesuits at Eastern Point Retreat House in Gloucester Ma., spiritual direction, and volunteer work in several places, including St. Francis Hospital.
